night role - medical team

dreamland medical team

There's no way to mark the passage of time after lights out, but it isn't long before the lightbulb in your bedroom flickers back to life. In Sheba's room, the panel with the cartoon animal painted on your wall slides up to reveal a hidden screen behind it; it has the look of the like a slot machine. In Kenny's room, the door unlocks and a path leading to Sheba's quarters lights up with a dim glow. Any attempts to veer off this path or approach any other room will cause his bracelet to start beeping rapidly. For tonight, Sheba's door will unlock to Kenny and Kenny only.

You'll have to make an important decision tonight, and quickly; you only have an hour to decide before the power abruptly goes off again.

When you say, "may be able to survive one more night before dying"... do you mean it's just if we're lucky? Is there anything we can do to make it more likely?

...and how does protecting someone work? We just pick someone, and they're safe? How can we be sure that they won't get hurt?

If there are two of us, why can we only choose to protect one person at a time?

[sheba stop trying to look for loopholes so early in the game]

[ the kid in the mask and cape just stands there, hands clenched. ]

I got a question. I can't die. How do you expect me to play? And if she's my buddy, does my immortality extend to her?

[ someone cannot accept that he's been depowered. ]

I. Can't. Die. I've tried. It never sticks. Don't tell me I'm 'delusional'.
chronic: (Default)

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-23 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
That's impossible. Every time I die, it never lasts. Sometimes it's minutes or hours or even weeks or months but I always come back. You're telling me that doesn't apply here.

Is that why none of my powers are working either? What did you do to us?

...hey! You didn't answer the question!

[She doesn't sound like she really expects an answer, though. So even though she looks mad, she tries to soften her expression as she turns to Kenny. He's smaller than she is, she shouldn't be glaring at him.]

So... what do you think we should do? That woman earlier... Miko is her name, I think. The one who volunteered to be our leader. She's made herself a pretty obvious target. But then, if the VIPs know she's an obvious target, they might think we'll choose to protect her and end up targeting someone else.

[ to his credit, Kenny doesn't seem intimidated by her, though he still looks disturbed and angry. ]

It's almost too obvious. But anything else is a shot in the dark.

I wish they'd given us a little more time, but that would probably have made it too easy.

[No, actually, she wishes she could still read minds so they would know who the VIPs are. But that would definitely defeat the purpose of the game.]

It could be Miko, or it could be that guy in that weird suit... [She scrolls through the profiles on her bracelet.] K. He had a lot of good points, too, when everyone was talking. A couple of the others also sounded like they know what they're doing... Any of them could have become targets.

...we have to play it safe. Go for Miko, or K. Someone 'obvious'.

It's slim chances no matter what.

[personal profile] uncoincidental 2014-09-23 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
...let's go with Miko. [She's still looking at her bracelet.] She's a little more obvious than K is.

Ugh, I don't like it. A one in 40 chance of getting it right... Those are terrible odds.

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-23 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
And we've got to keep one another alive too.
uncoincidental: (003)

[personal profile] uncoincidental 2014-09-23 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
...don't worry. I won't take any unnecessary risks.

[Since his life is tied to hers and all...]
chronic: (prophecies that show)

[personal profile] chronic 2014-09-23 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
That's not what I'm worried about. Usually, I don't care what happens to me. But I'll take responsibility for keeping you alive.
uncoincidental: (012)

[personal profile] uncoincidental 2014-09-23 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
...how old are you?

[Because if he's shorter than her he must be pretty young...]
chronic: (and you can move my body)

[ He adjusts his hood. ]

Ten.

[ But his voice makes it clear that he's Seen Some Shit, and he leaves it at that. ]
uncoincidental: (030)

[personal profile] uncoincidental 2014-09-23 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
I'm fifteen. [Her voice is firm; she's seen some shit, too.] If either one of us is taking responsibility for the other's life, it'll be me taking responsibility for yours.

...or we can just look out for each other.
