There's no way to mark the passage of time after lights out, but it isn't long before the lightbulb in your bedroom flickers back to life, and your door unlocks. Make your way into the park; the door will unlock for you, and the path you need to take lights up with a dim red glow.

When you reach the foot of the treehouse, a ladder has been dropped for you. Climb up and come inside. The interior of the treehouse has been made comfortable for you. There's an old map of the park on the wall, as well as the mounted and stuffed heads of cartoon animal costumes on the wall. The decor seems like something of a parody of an upscale hunting lodge, and you're welcome to sit by the fire and enjoy snacks from back home, or relax in one of the outdoor hammocks.

Enjoy yourself as you decide who to kill. After all, you're in on a little secret - none of this is real, and it's all part of a fun little game from which everyone, winners and losers alike, will wake up.

[ Ciel pauses, then shrugs as he picks up his cup of tea. ]

I would. This game is actually much kinder than what I'm used to, Mr. Bracket. I've taken many lives before this, and they don't simply wake up.

[There's a pause. And then, in what is a rare occurrence, a thin smile appears on Royce's face. It's not exactly a happy one, just...cold.]

Well, I would be lying if I didn't say that I...I didn't do something of the like back home. [It wasn't like he was a serial killer, though, hardly not, it wasn't out of ill will or malice.] But I'm surprised, I must admit. You are so very young...

[ He's not bothered by his youth being pointed out, since he's well used to it by now. The smile is noted, as is the coolness, but Ciel can recognize it as familiar enough. Yet unlike Royce, Ciel still wears a scowl. ]

It's the duty of the Queen's Watchdog. I took upon the title of the Earl of Phantomhive when I was 12, and ever since, I have eliminated the Queen's distresses. My age doesn't matter so long as I am willing to work for Her Majesty.

So, what, you are like her watchdog? Bodyguard?

[The smile is tucked away, replaced with that blank, neutral expression once more. What was done was done back home. What he did, with the rest of his group, it was very wrong, very wrong indeed. But they did it, and here he was, the last of his group, still standing on his principles.]

What made you so...special, I wonder? Surely your Queen would choose someone with more experience?

Hardly. I'm nobody quite as important as her bodyguard.

[ He shrugs with a carefully neutral expression, as if he's indifferent, though really, there are certain parts here that he dislikes speaking about. ]

The Phantomhive family has served the royal family for generations. We are the nobleman that look over the underworld and maintain the balance there. When someone steps out of line, we take care of it. We have always investigated unusual cases of serial killing, kidnap, and murder that Scotland Yard could not hope to solve. That is the duty of my family and my family alone. So when my father died, the duty would fall to me once I decided to take the title. I simply chose to take it younger than most.
