Night five - kill log
Who: Killers, K, and Kaoru
What: discovering whether robots and gingers have no souls
When: The fifth night
Where: The park...
[It's in the dead of the night when K's door abruptly unlocks. His bracelet begins to beep. Something seems to be calling him, ordering him to leave his room. For every moment he delays, it beeps with more and more urgency, especially if he tries to bring anything. And besides, he feels groggy, not inclined to protest much. Shortly after, Kaoru's door also unlocks, and he's led to the park behind him.
As he steps outside, lights illuminate the path. The lights lead into the park. As soon as either one steps through the door into the park, the door slams shut. It won't open for again, and pounding on the door or calling for help will not yield any results. It's only once inside that the grogginess wears off.
You can run or try to hide, but there's not much use to it. Your bracelet is still beeping, the only obvious sound in the darkness. And though you're not restrained, you'll find there's no way you can strike a blow against the killers; the bracelet will tighten and you'll feel the grogginess return if you try to fight back.]

[ Ciel scoffs, ignoring the question itself, since he assumes Anise will answer it, so he chooses to focus on the question he had asked K instead. ]
Who could provide a proper case once they're accused? That's the whole point, isn't it? As soon as someone's name comes up, there's not a thing they can do to fight it. You picked Francis only because he agreed with Edea. What could anyone do to fight that? Their own word means nothing, and stand up to defend him, and you would have damned them instead. As long as you understand that it's survival, I don't really care. But don't pretend that what you've been doing is noble.
[ Ciel actually seems rather angry, since that much was impassioned, but then he scoffs again as he shrugs. ]
Know this—I chose you because you were a danger. The fact that you get to wake up early seems kind, in my view.
no subject
She sighs a bit. ]
I believe pragmatic mindsets such as yours are a worthy fit for this game, K. But as our halfhearted lynching of Malik proved, ah...perhaps some compassion is needed as well. [ DOG CRIME VIGILANTES ] But I realize it seems quite ludicrous now. It is a matter of knowing the mindset of your enemies, who they believe is a worthy target, and unfortunately, it appears you have learned ours much too late.
no subject
Anyway, it's better this way. I can see you've been starting to freak out. If we wake you up, you won't have to take part in this game anymore, and you'll be safe and sound.
So come along and cute little Anise will take care of you this time, okay?
no subject
However I disagree. There is always a case to plead, especially when we did not have any strong motives for lynching Francis.
Take Edea. Edea pleaded her case before us all, even when there was evidence against her, and many admitted she had a very good point. Francis had no evidence against him in comparison yet barely put up a fight compared to Edea, with Nui having to come to his rescue in the last moments. Despite her failure, I admire her attempts to at least try and defend her life as part of his own. Francis dug his own grave by giving no defense or reason as to why we shouldn't have lynched him.
...I won't pretend the people I have sentenced to die deserve it -- no one here deserves it. The fact is we needed someone to lynch to avoid a conversion attempt and we all deemed Francis as our decision. Only a few abstained and I certainly do not remember any of your names on that short list. Please do not act like you did not sentence him to an end as much as the guests did.
I, more than anyone else here however, recognize the importance of conversions not being allowed. ...It is the job I was given as a Conversion Buster after all.
[He sees no reason to hide it -- if they are not to let him leave alive, then he will speak openly.]

Ah, so you did have a role. I thought as much with how ruthlessly you pursued us. And with that role, your ruthless nature makes all the more sense.
[ Any of the anger he had felt is gone by now, since even if it's a largely superfluous role, it's still rather satisfying to have hit one of them, at the very least. Especially considering just how often they had been hitting the singles instead... ]
I would hardly deign myself so noble as to be above you, K, don't misunderstand. We're both just as selfish in that respect, since I have no intentions of being woken up early. I feel as if I have a job to do here, and I will. The same goes for my companions. If it were anything else, we would offer ourselves up nobly, wouldn't we?
[ At which point he looks to Anise and Patchouli ]
Though on that note, I have my answer, so shall we? I'd rather not dawdle all night.

We have a small bit of walking to do. [ mystery not-carousel........ ]
no subject
But Conversion Buster? Ohhh, lucky! ♪
[But Ciel's right. Time is wasting. They've got somewhere to be. She looks to the both of them. If Tokunaga worked, this would be so much easier] Shall we~?
no subject
Regardless, I will follow. I am more curious to see if you could be successful, given my peculiar situation.
no subject
[ Though since they're all in agreement here, Ciel will start to walk in the direction of the spinny ??? ride, gesturing for everyone else to follow idly. ]
Someone's suggestion was a giant magnet, I should note, but we won't be doing anything as grandiose as that.
no subject
Oh, coming along willingly? That makes things easier. [ frail mafia trio won't have to drag him there ]
I work with metal. [ ????? ] I know how to use it, how to control it. Once you know where all of the rivets are, things are easier. [ per se ]
no subject
Don't worry, I've handled tougher things than you. ♥ If I had Tokunaga, this would be over in a second.
[Now follow the tiny children and skinny bookworm to certain doom, K]
no subject
[Seriously, three scrawny short people pushing one giant metal man...it'd be kinda sad to watch.]
Besides if I don't go with you, I assume the bracelet will be responsible for my death somehow anyway. It is still beeping after all.
no subject
[ Even Malik had been something a bit different in truth, but clearly otherwise, they hadn't bothered to blow people up. But yes, Ciel personally won't stick with the small talk, so presumably they will get to their destination before too long. ]
no subject
If I had my magic I could crack open that damnable suit myself... [ one of the scenarios in which metal manipulation would come in handy and shE DOESN'T HAVE ACCESS TO IT
But after that remark she'll be keeping quiet until they arrive, hobbling after Ciel. ]
no subject
[Still, is that a flash of guilt in her expression as they reach the ride? Who knows.]
no subject
[Nevertheless they arrive and K stares at the carousel.]
So...what now? I don't suppose you believe riding this thing will kill me.
no subject
Heavens no. You're the most complicated one to off at all, so we assumed repeated impacts would likely work well enough. I suggested drowning, but that seemed like it would take too long.
[ So there's that. Sort of. Ciel looks to the control box, then to Patchouli or Anise, hoping that they'll take over from here, since he's a bit more lost when it comes to the method. He rode the teacups for the first time a few days ago, so the rides are confusing to him. ]
no subject
[ Patchouli hobbles over to the control panel, fiddling with the knobs and levels for a moment before the ride starts to boot up, blaring its obnoxious music and the cars beginning to rev up. Looking displeased, she flips a switch that shuts the music off. ]
My apologies K, we would have preferred to have you unconscious. [ lowering her voice ] But no, that's not enough of a pinch. What a troublesome spell.
no subject
So it's going to hurt a little. But not for long.
no subject
For both our sakes, I hope you aren't wrong. Not about the ride...but about "waking up."
[If they keep using that phrase, he speculates this could be some sort of artificial reality. The question is if they are correct...and where he will even be waking up.]
no subject
[ He says it confidently, then walks to the booth with Patchouli, since he'll... Well, he won't exactly help, but he'd rather stand in there where it's not so noisy. ]
no subject
[ which is all she says before turning the knobs to boot the ride up again. This time, far beyond its safety capacity. Of course, for a ride like this, it results in the entire frame shaking, starting to move off course as its gears strain under massive speed. ]
Hmm...we may want to step back.

Have a good trip, K~ Say hi to everyone!
[And off the car goes. This is the most awkward murder ever]
