Night five - kill log
Who: Killers, K, and Kaoru
What: discovering whether robots and gingers have no souls
When: The fifth night
Where: The park...
[It's in the dead of the night when K's door abruptly unlocks. His bracelet begins to beep. Something seems to be calling him, ordering him to leave his room. For every moment he delays, it beeps with more and more urgency, especially if he tries to bring anything. And besides, he feels groggy, not inclined to protest much. Shortly after, Kaoru's door also unlocks, and he's led to the park behind him.
As he steps outside, lights illuminate the path. The lights lead into the park. As soon as either one steps through the door into the park, the door slams shut. It won't open for again, and pounding on the door or calling for help will not yield any results. It's only once inside that the grogginess wears off.
You can run or try to hide, but there's not much use to it. Your bracelet is still beeping, the only obvious sound in the darkness. And though you're not restrained, you'll find there's no way you can strike a blow against the killers; the bracelet will tighten and you'll feel the grogginess return if you try to fight back.]

Psst, Kaoru. Over here!
no subject
[Well gosh why would he do anything but go right towards him?]
no subject
[I sure can't think of a reason! Time to go on a friendly walk between friends.]
no subject
What's going on? Are you with the medical team?
no subject
[Okay, but Tamaki, why are you walking toward the Tunnel of Love?]

[Tamaki ushers him inside, where the ride is turned on, even though it had been closed the entire time up to now.]
no subject
[Guess we're getting on this ride.]

[Well, Kaoru and Tamaki might be getting it now. There's a shuffling noise in the backseat (is someone getting on?) and then silence. But the feeling, that prickling feeling of someone watching you, is there for a reason. For now, there's a man sitting in the back seat. Kaoru and Tamaki are not alone.]
[Royce Bracket doesn't say a word. He just sits and stares at the two teenagers in front of him with that haunting gaze of his. Sitting.]
[Waiting.]

Is . . . Is this your buddy?? You . . . You didn't tell us you had one.
[Why didn't you tell us you had one Dad??]
no subject
[The swan is starting to move.]
But at any rate, he won't harm you. Think of him as our chaperone.

Then it's as he feared. K stands by the door firmly, wondering if the killers will show themselves, and waits.]

Good evening, K.
no subject
Her expression is flat and indifferent. ]
Salutations. Though now is not the time for casual greetings.
no subject
Oh, K! Your bracelet is beeping. You shouldn't just stand there!
no subject
A question for you three, before we begin.
[His hand reaches over and touches the back of his head.]
Can any of you open my suit? If...you are to kill me, I would appreciate being out of this suit when I die. I wasn't lying about my amnesia - I can't even remember my own face. ...I want to know what I look like, before I die. I don't...want to die trapped inside this suit.
[He knows it may be a request in vain, but he wants to know if they can open it. How else do they intend to kill him, other than finding a way to penetrate the metal?]
no subject
[ Ciel stares at K evenly, but the look in his eyes gives the impression that Ciel is much older than he actually is. This is a boy that's killed before, and it's clear enough on his face. Even in the face of a plea for mercy, Ciel is completely cold, and his answer comes with no hesitation. ]
We wouldn't know how, sorry. Just pray for it when you wake up.
[ He crosses his arms, then his expression turns a bit more disdainful. ]
I have a question for you too. The people you had lynched today— Do you regret it? [ By which he means Nui and Francis ]
no subject
[ which raises the question...how are they possibly going to accomplish this? Patchouli grows quiet again after Ciel's question. ]
no subject
[But she'd like to hear that answer, too. That display was pretty cold, as much as she likes him]
no subject
[His shoulders sag a little, feeling more upset about that then about the fact that he is standing in front of three killers. Though he notes how both Ciel and Anise mention "waking up" before he answers Ciel's question.]
As for Nui and Francis -- the answer is no. I did was I believed was right in that moment and neither of them made a proper case for why we shouldn't lynch them. Nui only provided a case for herself and at a moment too late.
Besides that...I do not believe we can go without lynching. It would only mean adding more people to your numbers. I am no less a killer yesterday than I was when I voted for Levi and Edea. I accept that. People will fight to survive until the last moment they can. That is what life is about. It is what makes us...alive.
...That said: Ciel, Anise, why did you specifically mention "waking up"? I don't understand.
no subject
[ Ciel scoffs, ignoring the question itself, since he assumes Anise will answer it, so he chooses to focus on the question he had asked K instead. ]
Who could provide a proper case once they're accused? That's the whole point, isn't it? As soon as someone's name comes up, there's not a thing they can do to fight it. You picked Francis only because he agreed with Edea. What could anyone do to fight that? Their own word means nothing, and stand up to defend him, and you would have damned them instead. As long as you understand that it's survival, I don't really care. But don't pretend that what you've been doing is noble.
[ Ciel actually seems rather angry, since that much was impassioned, but then he scoffs again as he shrugs. ]
Know this—I chose you because you were a danger. The fact that you get to wake up early seems kind, in my view.
no subject
She sighs a bit. ]
I believe pragmatic mindsets such as yours are a worthy fit for this game, K. But as our halfhearted lynching of Malik proved, ah...perhaps some compassion is needed as well. [ DOG CRIME VIGILANTES ] But I realize it seems quite ludicrous now. It is a matter of knowing the mindset of your enemies, who they believe is a worthy target, and unfortunately, it appears you have learned ours much too late.
no subject
Anyway, it's better this way. I can see you've been starting to freak out. If we wake you up, you won't have to take part in this game anymore, and you'll be safe and sound.
So come along and cute little Anise will take care of you this time, okay?
